Original, kreatif dan permainan menakjubkan saat ini jarang ditemukan di group band dengan style yang bisa dikatakan masih asing di telinga kita. Yeah, sebuah suguhan musik dengan pengaruh alat tradisional yang kental, dikombinasikan dengan musik cadas dan vokal "menjerit" ala band Black metal membuat band asal Jerman ini mudah diterima di scene "folk metal" saat ini.
FINSTERFORST band asal kota Freiburg/Emmendingen Jerman ini mengusung alat tradisional khas eropa "accordion" sebagai "pondasi" dari musik mereka. Permainan Johannes Joseph sebagai "accordionist" membawakan nuansa yang khas eropa dengan iringan musik akustik serta "gebrakan" double bass dari Cornelius "Wombo" Heck (drums) menunjukan anak-anak muda ini mempunyai skill yang tidak mudah dipandang sebelah mata.
Nama Finsterforst berasal dari bahasa jerman yang berarti hutan belantara yg gelap.
Band yang dirintis oleh 4 anak muda, Tobias Weinreich (bass), Sebastian "AlleyJazz" Scherrer (keyboards) and Simon Schillinger (guitar) ini mencoba "bereksperimen" memainkan musik metal dengan merekrut pemain akordion secara permanen.
Sampai saat ini Finsterforst sudah merilis 2 album , 1 EP dan 1 album the best. Sejak tahun 2005 mereka merintis karir dengan perjuangan tak mengenal lelah, serta dukungan dari fans membuat band ini bisa dikenal sampai ke negeri 'sakura' Jepang.
