Biografi :

Gentry dibentuk pada tahun 1978, oleh gitaris Kai Hansen dan gitaris / vokalis Piet Sielck, yang dengan cepat merekrut Ingo Schwichtenberg pada drum, dan kemudian beberapa waktu kemudian Marcus Grosskopf pada bass masuk. Lagu-lagu dari era ini termasuk "Murderer" (1979), bagian dari "Heading For Tomorrow" (!) (1980), "Iron Savior" (1980), "Gorgar" (1981), "Metal Invaders" (1981), "Save Us" (1982), and "Victim Of Fate" (1982).

Band ini berubah nama menjadi Second Hell pada tahun 1981, dan kemudian Iron Fist (Jerman) pada tahun 1982, merekam demo di bawah nama itu pada tahun 1983.

Helloween resmi menjadi Helloween pada tahun 1983, ketika Piet Sielck keluar dari band dan Michael Weikath dari "Powerfool" masuk (membawa dengan dirinya, antara lain, merupakan versi awal dari ""How Many Tears" pada waktu itu judulnya "Sea Of Fears" dari 1982), dan band berganti nama. Helloween sengaja dieja seperti itu, menurut Kai Hansen. "Halloween datang setahun sekali, tapi Anda dapat memiliki Helloween setiap hari." Pada titik ini, Kai mengambil alih vokal.

Pada satu titik, Ralf Scheepers diundang untuk menyanyi di band, tapi ia menolak tawaran itu. Michael Kiske itu ditemukan tidak lama kemudian.

Kiske terus bermain musik jauh lebih lembut setelah meninggalkan Helloween tetapi beberapa kali diundang sebagai musisi tamu untuk band-band metal termasuk Avantasia, Edguy, Masterplan and Revolution Renaissance.
Setelah berpisah dengan Nuclear Blast, Helloween menandatangani kesepakatan dengan SPV Records pada 2004.

Richie Abdel Nabi mengisi posisi drum (untuk tour Helloween) pada tahun 1993.
